Hi!

Welcome. With extensive experience as a Graphic Designer, Digital Media Specialist, Brand and Digital Strategist, Creative Director, and Business Owner, I bring a diverse skill set and a strong dedication to design education. At Cambrian College, I’ve taught various design courses, focusing on Adobe Creative Suite software, photography, typography, and design fundamentals.

Recognized for excellence in design and community involvement, including receiving the Award of Merit from the Arthritis Society of Canada, I am deeply committed to fostering creativity and innovation.

Professional Experience

My career path is a rich tapestry of diverse roles, each contributing to my expertise in graphic design and visual communication. As a Graphic Designer, digital media specialist, and now brand and digital strategist at NOSM University (Formally Northern Ontario School of Medicine), I’ve refined my skills in designing captivating marketing materials, expertly capturing events through photography and videography, and steadfastly upholding the school’s visual identity. Simultaneously, my tenure as a Part-Time Professor at Cambrian College spanning over 15 years has provided me with the platform to impart knowledge across a spectrum of design courses, encompassing computer graphics, typography, photography, and communication design.

Moreover, as the Owner/Designer/Photographer at Överlägsen since 2009, I have thrived in crafting innovative marketing strategies, conducting insightful client consultations, and producing dynamic multimedia content. Previous roles as a Graphic Designer at Media Concepts Inc. and Partner at Motivo Design have further deepened my proficiency in essential areas such as time management, project organization, and fostering meaningful client relationships across a diverse array of design projects.

Education and Training

In terms of my educational background and professional development, I hold a Graphic Design Advanced Diploma from Cambrian College. Additionally, I pursued Communications Studies at Laurentian University from January 2018 onwards, aiming for an Honours Degree, though the program was discontinued. My secondary education at Lasalle Secondary School earned me an OAC and Bilingual Diploma, further shaping my foundation.

Complementing these academic pursuits, I’ve undertaken specialized courses such as the RGD Accessible Design Course in November 2015, focusing on AODA compliance, and RGD Professional Development sessions on topics like Gourmet Typography and Canadian Copyright Laws in November and December 2005, respectively. I hold memberships in esteemed organizations including the Sudbury Design Society since September 2010, and the National Association of Photoshop Professionals since June 2004. I have been a certified professional designer with the Association of Registered Graphic Designers since 2007 (RGD).

Awards and Recognition

My professional endeavors have garnered notable recognition and accolades, highlighting my commitment to excellence and innovation. The Canadian Public Relations Society honored the Northern Ontario School of Medicine’s “Be Active with NOSM” initiative with a prestigious Gold Award, celebrating its impactful contribution during the school’s 10th anniversary. Similarly, in June 2015, the International Association of Business Communicators bestowed upon our team a Gold Quill Award of Excellence in the category of Internal Special Events for the meticulous execution of communication strategies.

Further underscoring my dedication to community service, the Arthritis Society of Canada honored me with an Award of Merit, recognizing significant contributions in fundraising, advocacy, and client services.

Additionally, my creative prowess was spotlighted Mac User Magazine, featuring a comprehensive article on the branding redesign for Campgna’s Sport Bar, showcasing my adeptness in logo design and menu aesthetics.

These accolades stand as testaments to my unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in every endeavor.

Volunteer

Alongside my professional endeavors, I’ve been actively engaged in community service. I’ve volunteered as a portfolio reviewer for the RGD Student Portfolio Review Day, offering mentorship to aspiring designers. Within the Cambrian Graphic Design program, I contributed to the “About Face” initiative. I served on the RGD Membership Committee from 2012 to 2014, shaping the professional landscape for graphic designers. Additionally, I supported Sudbury’s homeless community through the Blanket Mission from 2009 to 2015. I’ve also held board positions with organizations like the Sudbury Design Society and Rainbow Crime Stoppers, focusing on community enrichment and safety. My involvement in committees like Warm Hearts and the Lateral Thinkers Design Conference highlights my dedication to making a positive impact and fostering collaboration within diverse community spheres.
